All the tens...

So, what were you doing at the tenth minute of the tenth hour on the tenth day of the tenth month in the year 2010?

I was at church, probably with a child on my lap - I'm not complaining at all, I'm just glad the kids feel safe enough to want to do it.

It was my turn to have our older group today, that is, the ones who are High School age. We were talking about Solomon and how he asked God for the gift of wisdom because he felt unprepared for the role of King and he wanted to make a good job of things.

It got me thinking about how we live in a world where we're faced with choices and decisions at almost every turn, sometimes I think there's TOO MUCH choice!
We feel pressed for time and can hurry into making a decision we might regret at a later moment - I know that has been a recurring pattern in my own life.
Unless it's "church business" I admit it rarely occurs to me to ask God for wisdom BEFORE making choices, and I often end up saying sorry to Him after I've made the bad ones.

I showed my group the book of Proverbs and, once again, recognised how much common sense and truth there is that's still relevant to life today.

So, this week, I'm going to pause and pray for wisdom before I make choices or act. I know it doesn't need to be some great religious jargon, or a pious and proper epistle, I just need to ask God for His help in the everyday stuff of life. Will you join me?

P.S. In spite of asking for wisdom, King Solomon still didn't get it all right - his personal life choices would appear to be anything BUT wise... Still, as an imperfect and very human being, it gives me hope. If God can use Solomon, he can use me too!!

Thought you might like to see another pic from the Norwich walk - I thought it was autumnal!
