...well, kind of. I think I might be finally growing up! (I know, scary thought.)
Why?
Well, although I still love music and listen to Radio One, I find myself drawn to Radio Four - there's some interesting stuff on there, you know!!!
So, I was listening on the way into work just now and Thought for the Day was the turn of the Chief Rabbi. Tonight is the Jewish celebration of Rosh Hashana... creation.
He picked up on the latest 'wisdom' of Professor Stephen Hawking, that not only is religion dead, so is philosophy, and he made a really brilliant argument - worth a listen again.
The gist was this...
Even if science could absolutely prove the Big Bang Theory, would it make any difference to your everyday life?
Science explains stuff... faith gives life meaning. Great empires have come and gone, yet faith remains.
Science doesn't replace religion (although I confess, I dislike the word religion - it smacks of rules to be kept rather than life to be lived... I prefer faith!!) and religion doesn't replace science. We need both!
Not bad wisdom for 7.45am on a damp Wednesday morning, huh?
I feel quite 'growed up.'
