I've been reading... and now I'm rambling it to you

...not that reading is an unusual activity for me, but just recently I've found myself strangely gripped by a book on Christian Doctrine.

So, I've been around church a while now, read and studied a moderate (define moderate.. hehe) amount and listened to A LOT of sermons so I thought I had a reasonable (hmm, what IS reasonable?) grip on the basics of what Christians should believe.
Well, I know that it's never too late to learn from God, and yes, He is a God of surprises! Which is great!

So here is one of my ponderings... it's kind of about Trinity and Creation... and I may be wrong... but see what you think...

God is the perfect example of loving relationship :-)

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are distinct persons, but one, inextricably bound in, through and by love. I can't explain the mystery of it, I can't rationalise it, I can't find the words to adequately explain it and - you know what? - I'm not really bothered by those things. I just believe. This is faith.
My mind is curious but finite, God is infinite. If the all knowing, all seeing, all powerful creator of everything chooses not to reveal everything or allow me to understand everything about His creation, that's fine. I probably won't stop asking questions though - and God knows that.

Okay, back to the point ... well, kind of...

There's a passage in John 17 where Jesus prays, firstly for His disciples, then for all believers, when He asks God to unite people in the kind of 'oneness' that they share with the Holy Spirit.
That is an awesome ask, but because it is God the man, doing the asking of God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, we can believe it is possible for us humans to have relationships that mirror the Trinitarian one - even if there's still some work for God to do in us to restore us to His original intent and design.

In Genesis, God creates. He speaks things into being. Imagine... you speak, it happens... whoa!
I hadn't realised it before, but significantly, humankind was the only part of creation He formed (I wonder what with - hands?) and then breathed life into. It's as if somehow, we had extra special personal input from the creator. After each work of creation, the Bible says it was good, until it comes to us, when we're told it was very good.

Then there's the question of woman - which obviously I'm interested in, being one :-)

God, who is never alone, because Father, Son and Holy Spirit are intricately bound, chose to reflect more of Himself in mankind by giving man a companion - not just any companion, but one who has been intimately connected with him from the beginning... is this why God used Adam's rib?

So, what's my point?

Well, I think, for me, it underlines the depth of love God has for creation, but especially for people. In light of that, it just makes me want to be a better reflection of God's love.

How about you?
